  • Move most objects to main floor or garage if possible
  • Leave clothes in dressers, remove valuables or breakables
  • Tape boxes properly on top and bottom
  • Disassemble what you can, including bed frames, couch feet, table legs, etc.
  • Throw away things you are not needing or using
  • Assign a name to each room and label boxes to make the move-in easier
  • Always read reviews and research moving companies thoroughly
  • Try to take lightbulbs, lampshades and liquids yourself
  • Make sure your moving company is licensed and insured
  • Put anything smaller than a lamp in a box
